Summer Academy

Summer Academy has been one of our staple programs for over 40 years. For five to six weeks, we offer a curriculum consisting of reading, writing, math, and cultural enrichment activities for children entering grades 3rd through 8th.

Students who attend Summer Academy receive:

  • Engaging activities and classroom time Monday – Friday, 9 am – 3 pm
  • Free breakfast and lunch
  • Access to Atlantic Street Center mental health counselors
  • Lessons, including STEAM-related courses, taught by Certified Teachers in a small classroom setting
  • Opportunities to learn activities such as theater, painting, dance, and even entrepreneurialism
  • Field trips to places like MoPOP, iFly, the Museum of Flight, and more
  • A moving-on ceremony and celebration

The program’s success is measured every year. Students who participate have shown marked improvement in reading, writing, math, and social skills, which they take with them into the following school year, and into successes throughout their lives.

ELIGIBILITY: Funding gives priority to Seattle Public School students who come from high-need families and have completed second grade.
